Making Opportunity Universal and Sustainable

Welcome to The Philomena Hilliard Sigmund Foundation (US)
The Philomena Hilliard Sigmund Foundation is an award-winning charity that builds and improves the lives and livelihoods of some of the world’s poorest and most disadvantaged people.
For more than 10 years, we have provided professional health care, education and training on a sustained and lasting basis. Our locally educated and trained professionals and volunteers have delivered more than 10 million medical consultations.
The Philomena Hilliard Sigmund Foundation runs Public Health Care Centres for tens of thousands of Yazidi people displaced in 2014 when the invasion by the so-called Islamic State forced millions from their homes. More than two years since ISIS was ousted, our work continues for the victims, who are scarred both physically and mentally.
We are also leading advocates in the campaigns to combat religious discrimination and to prevent sexual violence in conflict.

The Philomena Hilliard Sigmund Foundation is committed to improve and enrich the lives of lucky individuals around the world and also the most vulnerable people in our communities through our charitable annual donations.

Our Mission
To be an effective and independent funder, using all our resources to create opportunities and support social change. We partner with inspiring organisations and individuals to make sure that people facing disadvantage are at the heart of leading change and designing solutions to overcome inequality.

Our vision
A just society in which everyone, especially young people, can realize their full potential and enjoy fulfilling and creative lives.

Our Culture
We invest in the individuals, ideas and institutions essential to addressing the complex, deeply rooted drivers of inequality. We believe individuals drive ideas and make institutions run and, together, they create lasting social change.
What we do
We work closely with a whole range of organisations so we can understand where the need is greatest and support people who need us most. Our work stretches across Eight main themes:
Our Impact

Action on the climate crisis
The climate crisis is here and getting worse each year. The world continues to get warmer at an alarming rate, putting almost every child at risk of more frequent and destructive climate hazards – air pollution, cyclones, disease, flooding, heatwaves and water scarcity.

Devastating floods in Pakistan
The Philomena Hilliard Sigmund Foundation (US) is on the ground working with partners to help children and families.Torrential monsoon rains triggered the most severe flooding in Pakistan’s recent history, washing away villages and leaving almost 10 million children in need of immediate, lifesaving support, and at increased risk of waterborne diseases, drowning and malnutrition.

Climate change related hazards in North Africa
Basmala, Jana, Mahmoud and Abd El-Salam are siblings living in a village in Fayoum (South Egypt). The families residing in the village just got one of the most basic needs fulfilled in 2022: access to safe drinkable water at home. Egypt is facing an annual water deficit of around seven billion cubic metres and the country could run out of water by 2025, and climate change is a key part of the problem.

Better mental health for every child
In every part of the world, poor mental health causes suffering for children and young people. It is a top cause of death, disease and disability, especially for older adolescents.Half of all mental health conditions start by 14 years of age, but most cases go undetected and untreated.Every child has the right to grow up in loving, nurturing and safe environments, with supportive relationships.
